Thiago Silva has had an insane night.
The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight veteran reportedly stormed into the Brazilian jiu-jitsu school of Pablo Popovitch on Oakland Park Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., “armed” with a weapon and shouting threats.
The good news is that no one was injured and he left the building; however, the drama continued when Silva returned to his home.
This report has the early, and alarming, details:
A suspect who had barricaded himself in his Oakland Park home was taken into custody late Thursday night, the Broward Sheriff’s Office said.
Authorities had set up a perimeter around the home at 2041 Coral Heights Blvd. after the suspect threatened people inside a Jiu Jitsu school earlier, the BSO said.
The armed suspect went to the school at 777 E. Oakland Park Blvd. and threatened the people there, but no one was injured, said the BSO, which was called about the situation at about 7:45 p.m.
He then went to his home and locked himself inside it, according to the BSO.
The SWAT team responded to the scene, and authorities were trying to establish contact with the suspect, the BSO said.
The agency confirmed at about 11:15 p.m. that the suspect had been taken into custody.
