This number is much more impressive if you take into account the number of people who have an internet connection in Ghana. The International Center for African Culture and Arts (ICACA) even puts that number to 63.63% saying:
“Our social networking statistics show that Facebook penetration in Ghana is 6.09% compared to the country’s population and 63.63% in relation to number of Internet users.”
In conclusion, a much higher percentage of people with internet connection use Facebook in Ghana than in other countries such as Russia where only 40 % have a profile on Facebook.
The use of Facebook in Ghana seems to be only impacted by the rate of internet penetration, which is 14.1% of the total population (25 million people live in Ama Ghana!). It is clear for all to see that with a much higher availability of broadband internet as well as new and cheaper and innovative internet service providers (ISP), the fast growth Facebook and internet penetration overall will continue to rise in 2014.
